This was the last Contest with my good old antennas in Scheidegg. As the station had to be removed until mid of september we took the opportunity to "carry" the antennas to our fieldday QTH just abt 150m away of DJ5MW´s main QTH.

The transport of the Big Lift with monted antennas almost ended in a disaster, but with Ulrich´s technique and a bit of luck the antennas arrived safely...

As there was only the 80m-dipole left for saturday I told Stefan and Tom, it would be fine, if they could come around noon.
Stefan should bring the radio and his logging laptop.

Unfortunatelly there was so much traffic jam that he needed 7 hours for the trip from Mannheim to Scheidegg.
Finally he arrived 30 minutes after the contest started and then at first jumpered the whole station.
Luckily there was a FT857 mounted in the car and so I started the contest with 70 Watts sitting on the driver´s position and logging on paper :-)
At 14:00Z we were back in business and it seemed that we didn´t miss much, because conds weren´t in a good shape.

Later in the evening 20m opened to stateside and we were able to establish some decent runs there.

After all we had beaten our last year´s record of 880k points with this big fieldday setup!

Let´s hope it will be possible to operate again from this location in the future.

A big thanks to all helpers!

transport of the Big Lift from "home" QTH to Fieldday QTH some 150m away, still looking good!

almost "game over": Ulrich luckily could stop the whole thing from crashing down

notice the front wheels in the air!

puh! what now? With the guy wires from the Big Lift and a 2nd tractor we could bring the tower back to vertical position. No pictures there, we were only 2 men and had no additional photographer...

Tom, DL2RMC operating

Stefan, DL1IAO happy after all

what a fieldday setup! 4ele SteppIR and XM240 on Big Lift tower

the sad ending: all antennas had to be removed and are waiting now for a new QTH to be erected again!                                                                    eMail: dj5mw -at-
